UChemistry Postdoctoral Committee

The Postdoctoral Development Committee aims to support postdoctoral scholars by organizing professional development workshops, fostering mentorship and networking opportunities, and advocating for postdoc needs within the department. The committee also promotes community engagement and provides resources to support career advancement in both academic and non-academic paths.

 

JJ Intano, Ph.D.
Dr. JJ Intano is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the group of Shelley D. Minteer at the University of Utah Chemistry. His research focuses on electrochemical organic synthesis, with an emphasis on sustainable fluorination methods, bioelectrocatalysis, and hybrid organic–enzymatic systems for energy and chemical production. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Connecticut in 2024. Beyond research, he is actively involved in mentoring graduate students, community and NSF CSOE outreach, and initiatives that support postdoctoral professional development and community building. Aleria Garcia-Roca, Ph.D.
Dr. Aleria García Roca is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Postdoctoral Fellow in the group of Matthew S. Sigman at the University of Utah. Her research focuses on data-driven reaction discovery, combining high-throughput experimentation, automation, and machine learning to develop and understand catalytic transformations. She completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ, Spain) in 2023. In addition to her research, she is engaged in mentoring students, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and supporting initiatives that promote open science and sustainable research practices. Evan H. Perez, Ph.D.
Dr. Evan Perez is an NSF MPS-ASCEND Postdoctoral Fellow in the group of Prof. Peter Armentrout at the University of Utah. His research focuses on thermodynamic measurements of collision-induced dissociation using guided ion beam mass spectrometry. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Yale University in 2022. As part of the ASCEND program, Evan is committed to making science and chemistry available to people of all backgrounds. Contact: evan.perez@utah.edu
